The presentation will be held online, as it has been since the outbreak began. In response to the agency’s request, the company’s press service declined to provide an exact date. According to the agency, Apple typically releases new products in the first half of September. Last year, the presentation took place on October 14th, but in 2020, it has been moved to October.
In addition to the iPhone, Apple will introduce new models of iPads, Mac computers and three Apple Watch models.
As a rule, Apple launches sales of new smartphones two weeks after the presentation. The company is expected to follow the same tactics this year, the agency writes. According to his interlocutors, the corporation warned employees of some retail stores about the start of sales on September 16.
The standard version of the iPhone 14 is expected to be similar to the iPhone 13, with no 5.4-inch mini version in the line. The standard flagship model will have a 6.7-inch display. This means that, outside of the Pro line, Apple could be the first to release an iPhone with a display of this size.
The design of the iPhone 14 Pro will change a lot, the agency writes. In particular, smartphones will no longer have a “bang” on the front (there is a camera and a sensor for Face-ID). It will be replaced by a small hole for ID sensors and an “area the size of a [hole punch]” where the camera will be located. The smartphone will be equipped with an improved chip. The standard iPhone 14 models will use the A15 processor that powers the iPhone 13.
The iPhone 14 Pro will have three cameras: a 48-megapixel wide-angle, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and a telephoto lens.
The new Apple Watch Series 8 will have features for monitoring women’s health and a body temperature sensor. Externally, the standard modification will be similar to the previous Series 7 line.
Apple will also release a Pro-version of the Apple Watch, which will have a larger display, a more durable titanium case, and new activity tracking features. The watch will last longer than standard models. Aside from that, the company will update the Apple Watch SE line with a new chip.
In the same September, the corporation will release the new iOS 16 (iPhone operating system) and watchOS 9. However, macOS Ventura (Mac operating system) will be released later in October along with iPadOS. The delay was caused by errors in the new Stage Manager multitasking system, which will work on new devices.
According to the agency, the corporation plans to release approximately 90 million smartphones in 2022 in order to survive the sales decline. The company reported an 11.8% decrease in net profit in the third quarter ($19.4 billion) in July. Bloomberg estimates that the iPhone accounts for 52.5% of all Apple sales.
After reports of the date, Apple shares rose almost 1% to $174.54 during trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
